BI ist Mitglied der PEPP-PT Initiative
Das Barkhausen Institut ist Mitglied und Mitwirkender in der europäischen Initiative Pan-European Privacy-Preserving Proximity Tracing (PEPP-PT), die eine Grundlage für eine digitale Rückverfolgungslösung in Übereinstimmung mit dem europäischen Datenschutzgesetz entwickelt. Prof. Dr. Gerhard Fettweis, geschäftsführender Direktor des Barkhausen Instituts, zum Projekt: "Wir sind sehr glücklich und stolz darauf, dass wir im Kernteam diese wichtige Initiative mitgestalten durften. Ein herzliches Dankeschön an alle, die dadurch daran arbeiten, die Auswirkungen der Pandemie auf Leben und Gesellschaft zu verringern. Am Barkhausen Institut haben wir insbesondere zur Sicherheitsarchitektur, Betriebssystemanbindung und zur Funkmessung zur Nähe-Erkennung zweier Handys beigetragen. Natürlich bleiben wir tatkräftig weiter im Team, um unseren Beitrag zur Umsetzung und Optimierung zu leisten.“
Bei PEPP-PT handelt es sich um einen anonymen und die Privatsphäre schützenden Ansatz zur digitalen Kontaktverfolgung, der in voller Übereinstimmung mit Datenschutzbestimmungen steht und auch bei Reisen zwischen Ländern über einen anonymen Mehrländer-Austauschmechanismus verwendet werden kann. Es werden keine persönlichen Daten, keine Standortdaten und keine identifizierbaren Merkmale der Endgeräte gespeichert oder übertragen. PEPP-PT ist so konzipiert, dass es in nationale Corona-Mobiltelefonanwendungen als Funktionalität zur Kontaktverfolgung eingebunden werden kann. Gleichzeitig wird die Integration in die Prozesse der nationalen Gesundheitsdienste ermöglicht. Die Lösung wird angeboten, um offen mit jedem Land geteilt zu werden so dass der anonyme länderübergreifende Austauschmechanismus funktionsfähig bleibt.
Das internationale Team von PEPP-PT besteht aus mehr als 130 Mitgliedern aus mehr als sieben europäischen Ländern und umfasst Wissenschaftler, Technologen und Experten aus bekannten Forschungseinrichtungen und Unternehmen. Das Ergebnis der Arbeit des Teams wird sich im Besitz einer gemeinnützigen Organisation befinden, so dass die Technologie und die Standards für alle zugänglich sind. Unsere Prioritäten sind das Wohlergehen der Bürgerinnen und Bürger und die Entwicklung von Instrumenten zur Begrenzung der Auswirkungen zukünftiger Pandemien - alles unter Einhaltung der europäischen Normen und Standards.

The Barkhausen Institut is proud to be a member and contributing provider to the Pan-European Privacy-Preserving Proximity Tracing (PEPP-PT) initiative. The PEPP-PT multinational initiative today announced to provide the complete framework for a digital tracing solution in full compliance with European privacy and data protection law. This will help managing the COVID19 outbreak in a socially, economically and humanly tolerable way. Prof. Dr. Gerhard Fettweis, the managing director of the Barkhausen Institute, comments „We are very happy and proud to have been able to serve on the core team in making this important initiative happen. The PEPP-PT system is being created by a multi-national European team. It is an anonymous and privacy-preserving digital contact tracing approach, which is in full compliance with GDPR and can also be used when traveling between countries through an anonymous multi-country exchange mechanism. No personal data, no location, no Mac-Id of any user is stored or transmitted. PEPP-PT is designed to be incorporated in national Corona mobile phone apps as a contact tracing functionality and allows for the integration into the processes of national health services. The solution is offered to be shared openly with any country, given the commitment to achieve interoperability so that the anonymous multi-country exchange mechanism remains functional.
PEPP-PT’s international team consists of more than 130 members working across more than seven European countries and includes scientists, technologists, and experts from well-known research institutions and companies. The result of the team’s work will be owned by a non-profit organization so that the technology and standards are available to all. Our priorities are the well being of world citizens today and the development of tools to limit the impact of future pandemics – all while conforming to European norms and standards.
