Barkhausen Institut

BI featured at SPIN2030 science festival

The Barkhausen Institut participated in the SPIN2030 Science Festival, which attracted over 8,000 visitors to the Technische Sammlungen Dresden on 8 and 9 March 2024. As part of the festival, we presented the following exciting contributions:

  1. Robotic Airhockey

Visitors had the opportunity to compete against a computer-controlled robot at the air hockey table. The highlight was that depending on the type of transmission, ranging from 3G with a long delay to 5G with almost no delay, the robot reacted at different speeds. These settings not only altered the difficulty of the game but also underscored the significance of faster data transmission for technical applications.

  2. Workshop "Escape Room with Dr. Data"

This interactive workshop allowed participants to explore the value of their own data and learn how to protect it using encryption methods and puzzles.

  3. Participation in the live podcast „YOU ASK we explain - Berührungsängste in der Medizin“

In the live podcast recording of the Carl Gustav Carus Faculty of Medicine at TU Dresden on the topic "Of innovations and inspirations: Research at the intersection of science and society", BI's Managing Director Tim Hentschel explained the Barkhausen Institut's innovative research into secure operating systems, data protection solutions, communication technologies and fundamental design methods for trustworthy systems.

We extend our gratitude to the Saxon State Ministry for Science, Culture, and Tourism (SMWK) and all the organizers for providing us with the opportunity to participate in this inspiring festival.

This event marked an important milestone in bringing Saxony's diverse research landscape closer to a wide audience.
