Engaged in Dialogue: BI at Numerous Conferences in the First Half of 2026
Conferences provide our researchers with the opportunity to present their latest findings and projects to an international community of experts, receive valuable feedback, and engage in professional exchange. During the first half of 2026, our researchers once again participated actively in numerous conferences.
Three examples of the Barkhausen Institut’s international activities during the first half of 2026 are ASP-DAC, the IEEE 6G Summit, and the EuCNC Conference.
31st Asia and South Pacific Design Automation Conference (ASP-DAC 2026)
At the 31st Asia and South Pacific Design Automation Conference (ASP-DAC 2026), held at Hong Kong Disneyland from 19 to 22 January 2026, BI researcher Yogesh Verma from our Scalable Computing Hardware research group presented the paper “Reinforced Logic-Based Distributed Routing within Isolated Secure Zones”.
The Network-on-Chip (NoC) is a key component of modern Multiprocessor Systems-on-Chip (MPSoCs). At the same time, it can be vulnerable to attacks such as timing-based side-channel attacks and denial-of-service attacks. To reduce these risks, the paper introduces a routing method that directs sensitive data through separate, secure zones. This approach makes it easy to create protected areas and adapt them flexibly as needed. As a result, data is better protected and attacks between different applications can be effectively prevented.
IEEE 6G Summit
At the IEEE 6G Summit 2026 on 18 May at the International Congress Center Dresden, the Barkhausen Institut provided insights into its research on trustworthy communication systems, artificial intelligence, connected systems, and microelectronics through four interactive demonstrators.
From a pinball machine illustrating isolation in digital systems to a flexible hardware and software platform for 6G communication and sensing, as well as applications in robotic control and privacy-preserving machine learning, the demonstrators showcased different layers of digital systems in an accessible and interactive way.
European Conference on Networks and Communications (EuCNC) & 6G Summit
Several BI researchers participated in the European Conference on Networks and Communications (EuCNC) & 6G Summit, which took place in Málaga, Spain, from 2 to 5 June 2026.
Dr. Padmanava Sen, Senior Research Group Leader of the BI research group RF Design Enablement, presented a conference paper on the development and measurement results of a reconfigurable mixer for the FR3 band (7–16 GHz), a frequency range currently being considered for future 6G networks. Mixers are key components of modern wireless systems, as they enable frequency conversion to utilize different frequency bands. The work is based on the master's thesis recently completed at BI by Janakiram Pandi.
Dr. Mehrab Ramzan presented the challenges involved in designing antennas for the E-band, a frequency range used for ultra-high-speed data transmission and discussed approaches to addressing these challenges.
In addition, Dr. Padmanava Sen participated in an ISAC (Integrated Sensing and Communication) panel, where he presented demonstrators developed as part of the project INSTINCT.
A collaborative paper by researchers from TU Dresden, the BI and Emerson (NI) was presented by Dr. Ahmad Nimr from TU Dresden. The work represents the successful outcome of a 2025 collaboration between the three partners. Together, the partners developed and tested new concepts for making future wireless communication systems more energy-efficient, validated them through practical measurements and demonstrations. At BI, the research was led by M. Sc. Yash Richhariya and Dipl.-Ing. Zhitao Lin from our Connected Robotics Lab.
