6G-Conference: BI will be represented with several contributions
The 6G Conference 2026 will take place from September 8–10 in Berlin, Germany, and the Barkhausen Institut will be involved in several ways.
Prof. Dr. Gerhard Fettweis, Scientific Director of the Barkhausen Institut, will join the panel “ISAC – Groundwork for Practical Implementation” alongside experts from research and industry. The discussion will focus on how Integrated Sensing and Communication (ISAC) can move from research to real-world applications, with a focus on trustworthiness, performance, and the integration of sensing and communication.
At Booth B04, BI-researchers will showcase a sensing technology that allows wireless systems to communicate and sense their surroundings simultaneously.
Dr.-Ing. Stefan Köpsell from the research group Trustworthy Data Processing will lead two workshops on trustworthiness. The first, “Influence of AI on Trustworthiness – Challenges & Opportunities” will explore how AI is changing both the threats and opportunities for trustworthy systems. AI can help attackers find vulnerabilities, but it can also help us detect problems and improve security. The workshop discusses what these developments mean for the trustworthiness of systems, in which areas AI is already adding value, and what conclusions can be drawn for our future efforts to strengthen trustworthiness.
The second workshop, “Formal Methods as a Driver for Trustworthiness” will focus on the growing importance of prevention in the face of rapidly evolving attacks. One promising approach is AI-driven formal methods, which can help prove that systems are secure and correct by design. The workshop will explore the potential and limitations of this approach, how formal methods can be integrated throughout the system lifecycle, and how AI could further advance formal verification.
Both workshops will take place on Thursday, September 10, in Room A04, with the first workshop starting at 9:00 a.m. and the Formal Methods workshop at 11:00 a.m.
