Simulator of Watering Robot

The new exhibition on "Sustainability" opens at the COSMO Science Forum on March 15, 2023.

BI provides a simulator that illustrates how a semi-automated watering robot perceives its environment. On a screen, visitors can manually control a person moving around the simulated square in front of the Kulturpalast Dresden. In parallel, it is shown what the robot "sees", i.e. what information the robot picks up in order to be able to manage that route on its own in the future.

The simulation shows an important work step in the project "Climate Change in Historical Gardens" under the direction of the Staatliche Schlösser, Burgen und Gärten gGmbH. In the project, the prototype of a watering robot is being developed to ease the daily workload of the gardeners of the Pillnitz Palace Park. The robot is designed as an assistance robot. Control and steering are in the hands of the qualified personnel. The robot acts autonomously only on command, e.g. when going to top up the tank with fresh water.

The project is financially supported by the Federal Ministry for Housing, Urban Development and Building.
