BI Wins “6G Summit Best Exhibition Award”

At the 6G Summit 2025 in Dresden, the Barkhausen Institut welcomed 168 visitors, presenting six interactive demonstrators and engaging in lively discussions on the future of secure and trustworthy digital technologies. The exhibits reflected the institute’s mission: conducting cutting-edge research on the trustworthiness for a connected world, with a particular focus on platform chips and secure communication systems.
The BI was honored with the “6G Summit Best Exhibition Award”, which recognizes the most outstanding demonstrators:
- In the Physical Layer Security demo (Hexa-X-II), visitors explored how context-aware secret keys can be derived from the wireless channel by interactively moving antennas and modifying the environment. The process was visualized step by step, with the generated key displayed in real time.
- The demo Post Quantum Secure Drone Control, developed within the InnoDCon project, demonstrated how communication between a drone and a ground control station can be secured. It showcased how both remote control and telemetry data remain protected—even in scenarios where potential attackers have access to quantum computers capable of breaking classical encryption methods.
The jury recognizes the exhibits for their clear, accessible presentation of future security challenges and solutions.
This successful showcase was the result of strong interdisciplinary collaboration, with major contributions from the BI’s Connected Robotics Lab (CoRoLa). The team led the realization of the demos in close cooperation with BI research groups and was also responsible for the design and setup of the booth, as well as briefing on-site support staff.
Overall, the event provided a valuable platform for exchange and reflection on the current technical challenges and opportunities in advancing secure and trustworthy 6G networks.
