Barkhausen Institut

BI at the Open House of the Kulturpalast Dresden

The Kulturpalast Dresden celebrates 5 years of its reopening and we will join the celebration! For the open day on 7 May, visitors can experience science from 11 a.m. to 5 p.m. in the foyer of the prominent building.

The Barkhausen Institut and the Technical Design of TU Dresden will present new technologies and research findings using interactive prototypes in the foyer of the Kulturpalast.

Here, you can experience:

  • ROBOT AIR HOCKEY
Experience the importance of real-time communication while playing

  • SURF DEMO
Feel the future of smart clothing

  • HAPTIC LABS
Feel the vibration feedback for haptic feedback on the body

The event is also the start of a more intensive exchange between science and urban society at the Kulturpalast.

In the coming months, a new space will be created at the heart of Dresden, offering the opportunity to experience research in a wide range of fields and to engage in conversation with fellow citizens. The BI will operate the space and, together with partners from the Dresden Science Alliance DRESDEN-concept, the Dresden Philharmonic and the Central Library, will ensure a lively exchange between science, culture and the city.

To start off, there will be a feedback wall at the open house. There, citizens can express their own ideas and wishes for the new knowledge space. In addition, as part of the “Science Year 2022 - Participate!” proclaimed by the Federal Ministry of Education and Research, concrete questions to scientists from the population will be collected, to be answered in later events within the project ”POP-UP-WISSEN.”
