Barkhausen Institut at Dresden's Open Government District 2026
On September 6, 2026, the Saxon State Government opens its doors to the public for the "Offenes Regierungsviertel" (Open Government District), from 10 a.m. to 5 p.m. – and the Barkhausen Institut will be there.
Using the example of a networked pacemaker, an interactive exhibit illustrates what matters most for secure connected medical technology: data protection, IT security, and operational safety. Visitors can learn through visualizations and small interactive elements, and share their own opinions on the topic. Clear and accessible, the exhibit illustrates the opportunities networked medical devices offer for healthcare, and how security can be built in from the ground up.
Direct exchange with the public matters to the Barkhausen Institut, and the Open Government District offers a great opportunity for that. The team looks forward to engaging conversations, plenty of questions, and curious visitors of all ages.
The exhibit was developed as part of the SEMECO research project (Secure Medical Microsystems and Communications), funded under the Clusters4Future initiative.
