1,100 night owls at COSMO for Dresden Science Night

At this year’s Dresden Science Night (Lange Nacht der Wissenschaften, LNdW) on June 20, 2025, the Barkhausen Institut welcomed over 1,100 visitors to its interactive program at the COSMO Science Forum and to a public talk at TU Dresden.

Inside the Kulturpalast, we joined forces with the Department of Speculative Transformation (DST) at TU Dresden and Helmholtz-Zentrum Dresden-Rossendorf (HZDR) to present hands-on research insights as part of the COSMO exhibition.

One of the highlights: our interactive exhibit on connected medical technology. Visitors could simulate the flow of data between a pacemaker and the cloud, explore data protection and security questions in a playful way, and share their perspectives using a digital opinion barometer.

COSMO was also one of the selected stops for an official guided tour with around 50 invited guests. Together with the COSMO team, we offered a deep dive into how security, privacy, and AI intersect in the field of medical technology.

Meanwhile, at the Faculty of Computer Science at TU Dresden, Dr.-Ing. Michael Roitzsch, head of Composable Operating Systems group,  gave a public talk demystifying terms like Big Data, Cloud, and AI – explaining their foundations in computer science in a clear and engaging way.

We thank everyone who visited and look forward to seeing you again next year!
